Psychiatric Medication Management + Outpatient Mental Health in Texas

Have you ever heard the expression that health is wealth? This not only refers to your physical well-being, but also mental wellness. Mental health is just as important in the day-to-day of our lives, and should not be taken for granted. Mental illness can take many forms, including anxiety, sadness, troubles with mood swings, anger and irritability, inability to focus and concentrate, and sleeping problems. These symptoms of mental health issues may affect an individual's ability to function normally. Untreated mental illness can affect your ability to maintain employment, relationships with friends and family, or even keep you from living an overall fulfilling life.

For help managing mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, PTSD and more, contact Resolute. We are here to help you live a more healthful and fulfilling life.

What Is Psychiatric Medication Management?

Psychiatric medication management is a structured medical service that includes evaluation, diagnosis, medication selection, dosage adjustment, and ongoing monitoring. During an appointment, we review how symptoms affect your work, relationships, and daily functioning. We examine past treatment history to understand what helped, and what did not. If you are currently taking medication, we will assess its impact on your concentration, sleep, mood stability, and overall performance before deciding which adjustments are appropriate or necessary.

At Resolute, we ask direct and practical questions about your sleep patterns, mood changes, focus, and stress response. We then review your medical background and current health conditions before prescribing anything. We do not proceed with treatments until we fully understand your current condition and are confident that we know the right steps to take.

Who Benefits From Outpatient Care at Resolute?

Our outpatient mental health services are appropriate for individuals who need psychiatric treatment while continuing work, school, and family responsibilities. Many patients manage depression, anxiety, trauma related symptoms, ADHD, or bipolar disorder without requiring hospitalization, and if symptoms interfere with stability or daily performance, outpatient care provides medical support within your existing routine.

When To Seek An Evaluation

Everyone has periods in life with high stress and poor sleep. That alone does not signal a psychiatric condition. It is worth taking a closer look if you suffer from low mood, irritability, panic episodes, or racing thoughts linger and shape your daily routine. If you find yourself withdrawing from people, struggling to focus at work, or losing motivation for things that you used to care about, it may be time to sit down with a provider and sort through what is happening.

Appetite changes, disrupted sleep, or unexplained fatigue that persist without a clear cause are also worth discussing, and it is better to evaluate these changes early.

Outpatient Depression Treatment

Some people describe depression as a persistent weight that follows them around, and others notice a dulling of emotion, as though their reactions have been muted. Responsibilities do not disappear, but the effort required to meet them may feel overwhelming.

At Resolute, outpatient depression treatment begins with a careful review of your history and current experience. We look at patterns over time. The goal is to understand how depression is affecting your functioning now, then take steps to improve your quality of life.

How We Diagnose Depression

Your provider will ask about when symptoms began and how they have changed. We revisit previous medication trials in practical terms, including what improved and what created problems. We also review physical health conditions separately; we do not overlook any potentially important context.

From there, we determine whether the pattern aligns with major depressive disorder, a longer standing depressive condition, or another mood related concern.

Medication For Depression

Medication planning is individualized for each patient. One person may struggle with slow thinking and low drive, another may feel wired and restless even while depressed, and still others fixate on self-harm. Our approach shifts accordingly for their unique needs.

As treatment begins, we carefully monitor your response. Sometimes sleep improves before mood does. Sometimes energy returns gradually and almost quietly. When adjustments are needed, we explain the reasoning clearly and move step by step rather than making abrupt changes. We also offer counseling to support the process.

When Standard Antidepressants Have Not Worked

It is common for someone to try multiple antidepressants prior to reaching out. This could be  due to an antidepressant having side effects that make continuation difficult. We always review the full picture before introducing another option. For certain individuals, advanced treatments such as SPRAVATO (esketamine) therapy may be appropriate. That decision follows careful review of treatment history and overall health.

Outpatient Anxiety Treatment

Are you suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder and dealing with excessive worry that haunts you for months with seemingly no cause? Or do you suffer from panic attacks with accompanying tachycardia, chest pressure, shortness of breath, and lightheadedness? Social Anxiety Disorder and trauma response are other conditions that we often help with.

During evaluation, we determine how long symptoms have been present and how frequently panic episodes occur. We examine avoidance behaviors and assess how anxiety interferes with work, relationships, and sleep. When indicated, we order appropriate medical screening to evaluate potential contributors such as thyroid imbalance or medication side effects.

Our medication selection reflects your specific diagnosis and the severity of your symptoms. We may prescribe Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors such as sertraline (Zoloft), escitalopram (Lexapro), or fluoxetine (Prozac), or Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors such as venlafaxine (Effexor XR) or duloxetine (Cymbalta) as first line treatment for generalized anxiety and panic disorder when clinically appropriate.

For performance related anxiety, we may recommend a beta blocker such as propranolol (Inderal) to reduce physical symptoms like tachycardia and tremor.

In certain cases, we consider non benzodiazepine anxiolytics such as buspirone (Buspar), particularly when long term daily management is needed without sedation or dependency risk.

At follow up visits, we review panic frequency, baseline anxiety intensity, sleep continuity, and occupational functioning. We adjust treatment based on measurable change rather than assumption.

When appropriate, we coordinate care with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, exposure based treatment, or trauma focused therapy. Medication addresses neurochemical regulation, while structured psychotherapy targets cognitive and behavioral patterns that sustain anxiety.

Trauma And PTSD Treatment

Individuals who have endured trauma may develop sustained hyperarousal marked by exaggerated startle response, autonomic activation, fragmented sleep, and heightened vigilance in environments that should be safe or neutral. Certain cues can trigger rapid physiologic reactions, including increased heart rate, muscle tension, and intrusive recollection.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder often includes recurrent nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance of reminders, emotional numbing, irritability, and impaired concentration. Of course, ensuing sleep disruption intensifies these symptoms and further reduces your ability to function.

During an evaluation, we clarify the timing of symptom onset, identify triggering patterns, and assess the impact on occupational performance, interpersonal relationships, and daily stability.

Medication And Therapy Approaches For Trauma

Treatment planning depends on symptom presentation and severity. When hyperarousal and anxiety dominate, we may prescribe Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors such as sertraline (Zoloft) or paroxetine (Paxil), both of which carry FDA indications for PTSD. For trauma related nightmares, we may consider prazosin (Minipress) to reduce sleep disruption. If depressive symptoms remain prominent, additional medication strategies are discussed based on prior response history.

Medication addresses neurochemical regulation but does not rule out therapy. Cognitive Processing Therapy and trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy target distorted trauma beliefs and conditioned avoidance, and we coordinate referrals when appropriate.

ADHD Treatment For Adults And Adolescents

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects executive functioning, impulse control, and sustained attention. In adults, it often presents as chronic disorganization, unfinished projects, missed deadlines, and difficulty starting tasks. As responsibilities increase at work or home, these patterns can create significant strain.

At Resolute, we conduct a detailed clinical assessment that includes academic history, workplace performance, and daily routines. We also screen for overlapping conditions such as anxiety, depression, or sleep disruption to confirm diagnostic clarity before beginning treatment.

How ADHD Is Diagnosed

Diagnosis requires a detailed developmental history. We assess when attention and impulse control concerns first emerged and whether they persist across work, home, and social settings. We also evaluate for comorbid conditions that may complicate presentation.

Stimulant And Non Stimulant Medication Options

When medication is appropriate, we select it based on medical history and symptom profile. Common stimulant options include mixed amphetamine salts (Adderall), lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), and methylphenidate formulations such as Concerta or Ritalin. Prior to initiating treatment, we review cardiovascular history and current medications.

Non-stimulant options such as atomoxetine (Strattera) or guanfacine extended release (Intuniv) may be considered when stimulants are contraindicated or poorly tolerated.

We initiate treatment at a measured dose and monitor response over several weeks, paying close attention to attention span, task completion, appetite, sleep quality, and mood stability.

Monitoring Focus And Daily Function

In follow-up appointments, we evaluate observable change in performance. For instance, what effect has medication had on task completion, reduction in distractibility, and improvement in organizational habits? We then make medication adjustments in response to detected trends.

Bipolar Disorder Medication Management

Bipolar disorder involves recurrent mood episodes that include depression as well as periods of elevated or irritable mood. Treatment focuses on stabilizing these mood cycles and reducing how often episodes occur.

Identifying Mood Episodes

We begin by reviewing your prior mood history in detail. We look at changes in sleep, energy, decision making, and risk taking, along with the length and intensity of both depressive and elevated periods. That history helps us determine the most appropriate medication approach for your specific pattern.

Mood Stabilizers And Ongoing Monitoring

Common treatments include lithium, lamotrigine (Lamictal), quetiapine (Seroquel), or aripiprazole (Abilify), depending on your symptom pattern and medical background. Some of these medications require periodic lab monitoring, which we coordinate through scheduled follow up visits. If sleep shortens, agitation increases, or mood begins to shift, we adjust treatment accordingly.

Reducing The Risk Of Recurrence

Ongoing follow up plays a key role in preventing relapse. We continue monitoring sleep patterns, mood changes, and behavioral signals over time so we can intervene before symptoms escalate.

Advanced Treatment Options: SPRAVATO (Esketamine)

For individuals living with treatment resistant depression, additional options may be available. Resolute offers in clinic SPRAVATO and esketamine therapy for adults who meet medical criteria.

Who Qualifies For SPRAVATO Treatment?

Candidates typically have tried at least two antidepressants without sufficient improvement. Before moving forward, we review prior treatment history and current health conditions in detail to confirm eligibility and safety.

What To Expect During In Clinic Esketamine Therapy

Treatment takes place in a supervised medical setting. After self administration of the nasal spray, patients remain in the clinic while staff monitor blood pressure and overall response. Observation continues until discharge criteria are met and medical stability is confirmed.

Safety And Monitoring Protocols

Esketamine can temporarily affect perception or blood pressure. For that reason, each session follows established monitoring guidelines. Staff remain present throughout the visit, and patients arrange transportation home afterward.
